RAAM 2012!

Out of the ashes rises the phoenix called...the Georgia Chain Gang!

Hello Friends, Supporters, Fans,

The Georgia Chain Gang is officially back and we will compete in the 2012 Race Across America. The annual 3,000 mile cycling race from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis, MD is set to start on June 16, 2012 and this time, we will roll across the start line as an eight person team.

It is our pleasure to introduce to you, the 2012 Georgia Chain Gang line-up of riders:

Lee Amlicke
Jane Eastham
Frank Fuerst
Stephen Harrell

Aimee Henderson
Tony Myers
Jerome Rossetti
David Payne
With eight riders, we are striving to make it to Annapolis in record time and shatter our previous performance as a four man team. Of course, our real inspiration comes from those that are fighting the good fight against the evil known as cancer. Right in our immediate circle of close friends, we know several and Warren Bruno stands out among them. Warren was our 2009 crew chief on the road and he was also a crew chief last year, but could not make it to the event due to his illness. Today, Warren is in his fifth round of treatment as the cancer continues to return. We ride for Warren and the over one million Americans currently battling this terrible disease.

Our fundraising goal this year is $200,000. Lofty, we know. Especially when we raised $210,000 in 2009 and 2010 combined. But we know that with your support, we will reach that mark. You can make a contribution today to our team fundraising website. Just visit http://pages.teamintraining.org/ga/raceacro12/georgiachaingang2012.

We are looking for crew members to join us for the 2012 Race Across America. Enthusiasm and passion for the sport of cycling is a plus, but you must also be willing to fundraise for a cause close to our hearts. If you're ready for an adventure of a lifetime and you live in the Metro Atlanta area, drop us an email at gachaingang@mindspring.com.

The next few months promise to be very exciting as we prepare for the big event next summer. We'll put in countless miles in the saddle and you'll be able to follow along by joining us on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/gachaingang, or following us on Twitter, www.twitter.com/gachaingang. Of course, full profiles on all our riders and crew members will be posted to the official Georgia Chain Gang website at www.gachaingang.org . Please feel free to tell your friends to check us out.

Lastly, we are hosting our first fundraiser event of the year. Come out for what is now a Holiday tradition, the annual Santa Ride from Atkin's Park in Virginia Highlands. The 20 mile ride will take place on Wednesday, December 7th with wheels down by 6:00pm. $25 donation is suggested. Of course, the more lights and Holiday cheer on your bike, the better. If you live in the Atlanta area, we would love to see you.

We can't wait to share with you all the stories from the road as we prepare for RAAM. In the meantime, we want you to know that we truly appreciate you following us and thank you for your support.
